Financial Accountant Europe

In this position as Financial Accountant Europe you’ll have a wide range of financial responsibilities. The main responsibility of this position is to manage and coordinate the entire financial administration and accounting activities of the organization in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Germany and Belgium.

You will manage the financial shared service centre, consisting of two financials, and will be responsible for all work related to Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Audit & Compliance, Project Setup, & Payroll processing. With the other two financials you will manage all the day to day activities, including processing and payment of vendors, billing for customer accounts and associated reporting.

As the Financial Accountant Europe you will be responsible for:

  • Managing and coordinating the financial administration and accounting activities for the Netherlands, Germany, Belgian and the UK
  • Manage and maintain compliant tax effective strategies and timely filing and payment of tax obligations
  • Manage the organization’s financial compliance obligations and
  • Ensure timely completion of audits
  • Managing the Shared Service Center Team consisting of two financials
  • Act as a sparring partner for other business teams, senior management and the CFO
  • Working together with international colleagues and teams all over the world, including procurement, (business) financials and business development to improve order to cash and procure to pay capabilities
  • Identify and implement changes to enhance reporting, streamline reconciliations and adjust processes to gain efficiencies
  • Communicate with external advisors (tax advisors, auditors, legal advisors)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting (preferable a Master in Finance or Accounting)
  • Strong knowledge of finance and accounting and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in international accounting with tax related processes in an international context
  • Knowledge of GAAP, VAT Returns and international accounting standards
  • Excellent skills of the English and Dutch language in writing and speaking
  • The ability to build international relationships across the organization
  • The ability to manage, lead and contribute to geographically dispersed teams
  • You may be required to work non-standard hours, due to consultations with colleagues worldwide
  • Occasionally, you may be required to travel to, for instance, Chicago or other offices
